Discipline for the Idle and the Call to Work

2 Thessalonians 3:6-15

3
Chapter 3
6 Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from every brother or sister who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we did not behave in a disorderly way among you. 8 Nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but in weariness and toil, working night and day so as not to burden any of you. 9 not that we do not have that authority, but in order that we might offer ourselves as an example to you, so that you would imitate us. 10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: if anyone does not want to work, neither let him eat. 11 For we hear that some are walking among you in a disorderly way, not working but meddling about. 12 But we command and exhort such people in the Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread. 13 But you, brothers, do not lose heart in doing good. 14 But if anyone does not obey our word through the letter, mark that one and do not associate with him, so that he might be put to shame. 15 And do not consider him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
